Download Deliverable 8.4 – Interim report on capacity building activities carried out

Summary

This report summarizes the progress of Task 8.2.1, “Building capacity on conservation techniques for agricultural soils,” executed by Task Leader ERSAF in partnership with ADBPO and CMCC. The core mandate of this initiative is to drive capacity building and facilitate the transfer of critical knowledge to the agricultural sector within the Po River Basin. The central objective is promoting sustainable and conservative soil management techniques, essential for enhancing agro-ecosystem resilience and adaptation to climate change. Implementation began in 2024 with the launch of a continuous five-year training and outreach program (2024–2028). This program is strategically managed by ERSAF, leveraging specialized technical facilitators, and targets key regional stakeholders, including farmers, consultants and educational institutions.

Execution relies on identifying and collaborating with local “model farms” that successfully apply conservative soil management practices. To date, the task has successfully organized numerous theoretical and practical sessions, including training days, field demonstrations and case-study visits. These events have involved sector experts and experienced farmers, fostering knowledge exchange and professional networking. All completed activities have been rigorously documented, including the production of support documentation, visual materials, summary reports and detailed participant registration records.
